Dr. L. D. Eckermann
Dr. L.D. Eckermann, a graduate of Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1973, has practiced at Westbury Animal Hospital since graduation, becoming a partner in 1976. Dr. Eckermann is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association’s Leadership Council of 100. In 2006 he was named the Practitioner of the Year by AAHA, a prestigious national award given to one veterinarian annually. Dr. Eckermann has chaired AAHA’s Standards Committee and the Audit and Control Committee. He is a past president of the Harris County Veterinary Medical Association and a member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association which named him the companion animal practitioner of the year in 2005. Dr. Eckermann is a member of the Houston SPCA Board of directors and serves as the veterinary advisor. In 2007 the SPCA honored him with their “angels among us award.” Dr. Eckermann is a deacon at his church, is married to Marsha Griffith Eckermann, and they have six children, with five grandsons and three granddaughters.
